How Guidance Notices and Classification Rules assist Hybrid Designers
Classification may be regarded as the development and worldwide implementation of published Rules and Regulations which, in conjunction with proper care and conduct on the part of the Owner and operator, will provide for the safety and reliability of the propulsion and the effectiveness of those other features and auxiliary systems.
Guidance Notes and Classification Rules are formulated to support innovation and development of Hybrid technology. It is imperative that the risks are understood and then a decision can be made to ensure that those risks can be mitigated and the residual risks remain tolerable. The guidance notes are to support the application of Hybrid technology, they are to have the capability to be applied to all electric and Hybrid configurations which requires the risks to be identified and mitigated where possible.
