Update on UK Ministry of Defence Whole Body Vibration Working Group
This presentation will provide background and an update on UK Ministry of Defence Whole Body Vibration Working Group.
Richard Finnemore was the joint author of the MoD’s first exemption submission from the Whole Body Vibration Regulations.
Since 2011, as a consultant he has been responsible for executing the MoD’s Maritime Whole Body Vibration (MWBV) Project.
He is now considered to be the MoD’s Subject Matter Expert on MWBV and has been responsible for the design and implementation of training programmes, health monitoring systems, an individual fitness training programme, along with craft exposure surveys and the testing and introduction of new boat equipments.

Richard Finnemore retired from the Royal Navy in Dec 2010 after more than 30 years service, 20 of which were spent at sea in front line operations serving in T21,22 and 23’s.
A professional Warfare Officer he sub specialised in Passive Anti-Submarine Warfare conducting live operations and finally as Staff Warfare Officer Underwater to Flag Officer Sea Training he taught the subject to RN and other NATO Navies Ship’s Companies.
He has additional qualifications in Requirements Management, Logistics Management and Safety Enginnering.
He led a mixed military and civilian team responsible for the final stage introduction of Sonar 2087 into the T23 fleet.
As Commander Seamanship for the Sea Systems Group in MoD Abbey Wood he was responsible for the final acceptance trials of the seamanship equipment fitted to the new T45s.
